Sebastian Rodriguez de Castro is a Colombian photographer, visual storyteller and visual anthropologist based in Bogotá. His practice combines documentary photography, visual anthropology and artistic research to explore themes of memory, identity, democracy, indigenous knowledge and human rights. He holds a B.A. in Visual Arts from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and an M.A. in Visual and Media Anthropology from the Media University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, where he directed and produced the documentary Migrating. With more than five years of professional experience in Colombia and Germany, Sebastian has collaborated with cultural institutions, NGOs, media organizations and film productions, developing projects in documentary photography, still photography, photojournalism and audiovisual production. His professional experience includes collaborations with Netflix LATAM, Leimay Theatre Company, ACDI/VOCA, Transformationsbündnis THF, Lieferando and Foro Región Central. His documentary work focuses on building respectful and long-term relationships with communities, using photography as a means of visual storytelling and social engagement. He has documented indigenous communities, participatory democracy initiatives, artistic productions and social justice projects, producing images that combine visual sensitivity with anthropological inquiry. Sebastian's work has been exhibited and recognized internationally. His photographs have been presented at Fringe Arts Bath (UK), Photo|Frome Photography Festival (UK), Signature Art Prize (London), and the Museum of Bogotá. He was also selected as a finalist for Photo of the Week by The Berliner Magazine, and his work has been published by the German newspaper Junge Welt. Through his interdisciplinary practice, Sebastian seeks to create visual narratives that encourage dialogue, preserve collective memory and foster greater understanding across cultures.
